With everyone finally back from SXSW in Austin, the local concert calendar also picks up significantly this week. Starting on Monday, The Magnetic Fields begin the first of two night at the Neptune Theatre, followed on Tuesday night with the Drive By Truckers at the Showbox, and local legends Mudhoney bring the noise to the Tractor on Wednesday night. On Thursday, Plants and Animals are at Crocodile, Skream & Benga are at Neumo’s, Michael Gira, and Sir Richard Bishop are at Triple Door, and Yppah and Anomie Belle are at Chop Suey. We’re also excited about the start of the inaugural Treefort festival taking place in Boise Idaho from Thursday thru Sunday (March 22-25), featuring a host of talented local musicians and new and emerging national acts. On Friday, the Kaiser Chiefs are at Showbox at the Market, Galactic and Orgone are at Showbox Sodo, Kronos Quartet are at Neptune Theatre, Hunx and His Punx, Grave Babies, Heavy Cream, TacocaT are all performing at Crocodile, and The Robert Galsper Experiment is at Neumo’s, and the Treefort festival continues running all weekend long in Boise. On Saturday, KEXP favorites Nada Surf performs at the Neptune, Of Montreal and Deefhoof are at Showbox at the Market, White Rabbits are at the Crocodile, Lonely Dear is at Chop Suey, and Mr. Gnome, The Redwood Plan, and Clutch Douglass are at Sunset Tavern. Sunday, Lucero, and The Drowning Men are at Neumo’s, Sharon Van Etten, and The War on Drugs are at Neptune Theatre, and Kelly Joe Phelps, Cahalen Morrison, and Charlie Parr are at Tractor.
